PA glorification of terror continues - Abbas's representative: Dalal Mughrabi, killer of 37, "is our bridge to freedom and independence"

Palestinian Media Watch has been exposing the Palestinian Authority's ongoing policy of glorifying terrorists and presenting them as role models. The PA has been focusing lately on terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who committed the worst terror attack in Israel's history when she and other terrorists hijacked a bus in 1978, killing 37 Israelis.

Following PMW's bulletin that this coming Thursday the PA will inaugurate a square named after Mughrabi on the anniversary of the date of the terror attack, Israeli government "Minister Yuli Edelstein has asked [PM] Netanyahu to approach the American administration about stopping the event." [Haaretz, March 10, 2010]

But according to the PA papers the inauguration and naming of the square will take place and youth are being involved in the preparations which are seen to be of educational value:

"The Shabiba [Fatah] youth movement of the high schools in the Nablus region yesterday participated in national volunteer work around the Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi Square in Ramallah, in preparation for the inauguration of the square next Thursday, the anniversary of her Martyrdom after carrying out the famous Kamal Adwan operation [terror attacking killing 37 in 1978].
Coordinator of activities in Nablus, Hasan Fakih, said that this participation [by the youth] was meant to reinforce values of volunteerism and loyalty to the blood of the Shahids (Martyrs), who sacrificed their blood for the sake of the Palestinian cause. He noted the need to reinforce national concepts and to recall the symbols of the Palestinian struggle among the generations [to come].

Moreover, speaking in the name of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, the Sec. Gen of the Presidency Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim honored Mughrabi and other terrorists as the "bridge to our freedom":

"The Palestinian woman is the mother, the sister, the wife, the companion and partner [of the man] in areas of education, resilience, building and struggle and therefore she knows all the forms of the struggle and its sufferings. Starting with the first woman Martyr (Shahida) Shadia Abu Ghazaleh through the Martyr Dalal Mughrabi and ending with the endless convoy of female and male Martyrs who all went to Paradise as they turned their blood into a bridge over which we pass on the way to our freedom, independence and national liberation from the burden of the occupation."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, March 9, 2010]

A Palestinian journalist writing in the official PA daily, described March as a "month of women, roses and flowers," and naming the special women's events she included International Women's day, Mother's day and the anniversary of the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi's killing of 37 Israelis, all as special events of the month of March:

Nufudh Al-Bakri [journalist for PA official daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida]:
"Our ancestors said in their proverbs that the month of March is the month of earthquakes and rain. And we say that this month is the month of women, roses and flowers - and how could it not be so, when it includes occasions related to women, including March 8 [International Women's Day], Mothers' Day, the anniversary of the heroine Dalal Mughrabi's Martyrdom, the Battle of Karameh [March 21, 1968] Day, the Spring Festival, and a great number of national occasions and [remembrances of] massacres by the occupation.'"
