In recent weeks, I and several world leaders have made serious efforts to advance peace. 
If President Abbas moves to implement what was signed today in Doha,  he will abandon the path of peace and join forces with the enemies of peace.

Hamas is an enemy of peace. It's an Iranian backed terror organization committed to Israel's destruction. It has not accepted the minimal conditions set by the international community:

Israel’s citizens live their daily lives much like citizens of other countries around the world, but a major difference is that Israelis live under the constant threat of rocket fire.

Not even on the holiest day of the Jewish year were Israelis given the opportunity to rest, as was seen on the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when a coalition of Arab countries attacked simultaneously in an attempt to catch Israel off-guard.

Following are Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting today (Sunday), 5.2.12:

"We have received a reminder about what kind of a neighborhood we live in. We heard the Iranian ruler's remarks about the elimination of Israel.  We saw the Syrian army massacre its own people.  We have seen bloody events in our region.  Various leaders have no moral compunctions about killing their neighbors and their own people alike.

For the third time in the past week, I write to express Israel’s very serious concern about the rockets flying out of the Gaza Strip daily.

On the evening of 1 February 2012 - in the midst of your visit to our region - terrorists in Gaza fired 7 rockets into Israeli communities within the span of an hour. These rockets exploded in close proximity to the City of Sderot - and forced thousands of Israelis to spend the evening in bomb shelters. In the last three weeks alone, more than 20 rockets and mortars have been fired into Israeli cities and communities.
