As Christians and minorities face death and brutality in many neighboring Muslim countries, only Israel stands apart as a place that protects its citizens of all faiths and gives medical aid to those who might be enemies. A nation of 6.1 million, surrounded by enemies and friends by treaty (Egypt and Jordan), Israel has limited resources. The Muslim countries have resources for large armies, petro-dollars to spare, leaders who live in obscene luxury and give their support to Hamas and Hezbollah and The Caliphate and any force that can act as proxy armies to crush Israel. Yet, Israel adheres to a firm policy and ethical duty to conduct its defensive strikes within as limited range as possible to avoid civilian loss of life and still destroy the enemies. Israel guarantees the religious freedom and safety of those who live within its borders. See if that happens in any of the Muslim countries, including Pakistan, ostensibly a pro-Western ally who sentences Christians to execution for conversion.
Israel expends its funds on protection of its citizens and now will see an effort to prevent any transmission of the dreaded Ebola virus. The Palestinian Authority has been invited to partner with Israel to secure the region. Israel’s life saving and preserving actions extend beyond mere self preservation. It is a personal and faith-based quality to save lives in Israel.
The popular, bought and paid for media in most countries publishes in print, online and by broadcast the civilian losses in campaigns like Gaza. The numbers are never verified (so much for due diligence and traditional journalistic ethics) just taken wholesale from Hamas, the Palestinian Authority or whoever started the war. Yet the stories of Israel’s core values, saving lives, defending all its citizens and other truthful information are carried by the Israel-based press and broadcasting and rarely see light of day in other countries. The alternative media, a rising force for ethics and accuracy in reporting works to bring Israel’s ethical treatment of former enemies in medical and other needs to the world.
This quiet and personal diplomacy of mercy is typical of the Israelis. Despite limited resources over 400 Syrians have received proper medical care in the Galil Hospital. IDF soldiers have saved and treated those on other sides when wounded. Despite the merciless actions towards Israel, other Muslims and Jews by Hamas and other Muslim groups, Israel treats its enemies as human beings. Emergency patients have been taken to the Ziv medical center. The Ministry of Health reports at last 1500 Syrians, some of them fighters, have been treated in Israeli hospitals. This number doesn’t even include the IDF emergency facility that has treated anyone in need of aid, child, refugee, fighter. What has any Muslim nation done?
As the Gaza situation calms down, stories are emerging of individual IDF soldiers and companies who aided Syrians and even those in Gaza who were wounded in the fighting. As we see photos and videos of the Caliphate forces gunning down bound captives, posing with piles of heads, declaring their right and duty as jihadists to defile women and girls, the IDF stands apart as honorable and brave soldiers. This is no accident. Israel is accountable to the Highest Authority Who said “I demand mercy, not sacrifice”. Israel stands apart from its enemies and we can be glad of that. Support for Israel is declaring that “mercy not sacrifice” must govern our lives. Thank you Israel for the excellent example you set.
