by Tom Brenner,
Here in America we are once again honored by the presence of Israel’s Prime Minister. While he is here he will receive the AEI’s prestigious Irving Kristol Award and it is richly deserved. Once again the representative of the State of Israel will visit the Netanyahu White House and hold out a hand of friendship and reconciliation in troubled times. The recent “deal” with Iran has been eclipsed by the sudden and decisive move by President Putin of Russia into Syria and the adoption of Iraq, Syria and now Iran as Russian client states. Any and all attempts to keep up with any of this are frustrating and confusing.
The rise of the new Russia, its assertive and forceful movements and the uneven past history of Russia and its Jews leaves many to wonder what next? But as we see the prophecies of the Bible enacted before our 21st century eyes we can take security and hope in the words that gave Israel to Abraham. An eternal covenant with a people numbered like the stars of the sky and the sand of the shore outweigh any news bulletins, acts of brutal terrorism and signatures of leaders on pieces of paper.
Israel is under increased attack from Abbas’ accomplices and if any peace is to be restored the Palestinian Authority must rein in its forces and the world media must focus on just exactly who is using knives, cars and rocks. Remember to use social media to complain about media bias. They will take notice if we persist.
Prime Minister Netanyahu conducts a Bible study with associates on a regular basis. He acknowledges his duty to be a steward of The Land and see to its defense and wellbeing. While Americans watch and endure countless reality show political “debates”, while others immerse themselves in celebrity antics as social media reports them, Israel’s stewards keep watch by the hour over The Land. And we must watch with them as we stand with Israel. Welcome. Netanyahu, our prayers are with you.
