This is a fully functional replica 'Darom' oil lamp - manufactured in Judaea after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD, when the urban population, including artists and craftsmen, fled Jerusalem and settled in the area of Darom.

It is at this time that they developed this new style, which lasted from about AD 70 to the end of the Bar-Kokhba Revolt, in AD 135. The grapes on this lamp, are probably representative of a golden grape cluster that was at the Temple before the Roman invasion.
