The inner courtyard: brazen sea, copper lavers, altar, entrance to the Sanctuary.

The Jerusalem Temple was situated on top of the Temple Mount, also known as Mt. Moriah.

To the west of the Temple was the Tyropoeon valley and to the south and east was the Kidron valley, possible identical to the Hinnom valley (Gehinnom). The north provided easiest access to the Temple, since the approach from that direction was relatively level. It was the center of Israelite Jewish worship, primarily for the offering of sacrifices known as the korbanot. It was located on Jerusalem's Temple Mount.

It was the center of ancient Judaism and has remained as a focal point for Jewish services over the millennia. According to the Hebrew Bible, the Temple was built by Solomon.
