Jesus’ journeys from the Galilee would have taken him through the Jezreel Valley before entering Samaria where he healed the ten lepers – though only one “turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God”. He may have rested on route like other travellers, by the lush pools of the Sachne or the springs of Ein Harod by the foot of the forested Mount Gilboa. This was the site of the selection of Gideon’s army, spoken of in the Book of Judges 7. Mount Gilboa is still a favourite spot for visitors especially during the springtime when the earth is a carpet of multi-coloured wildflowers.
*As he went Jerusalem,… he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, … he said unto them, Go shew your selves unto the priests. And … as they went, they were cleansed. Luke 17:11-14
