On October 8th the world will experience the second of a series of four Blood Moons that Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Baptist Church in San Antonia Texas in his book, \u201cFour Blood Moons: Something is About to Change,\u201d claims to portend of possible prophetic events.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network regarding his book, Pastor Hagee told CBN News, \u201cThere\u2019s a sense in the world that things are changing and God is trying to communicate with us in a supernatural way.\u201d Relating it to other astronomical events in biblical history such as the star that followed the wise men to Jesus, or when in the Book of Joshua (Joshua 10:13), the sun stood still allowing for the victory of the Israelites over their enemies, Hagee said, \u201cI believe that in these next two years, we\u2019re going to see something dramatic happen in the Middle East involving Israel that will change the course of history in the Middle East and impact the whole world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another pastor, Mark Blitz, has similarly drawn attention to these four Blood Moons and their connection with Passover and Sukkot. He too stresses that such occurrences have had great significance for Israel in the past. There is also a solar eclipse on March 20th, 2015 which falls on the exact date of the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. This is during the period between the first two Blood Moons in 2014 and the last two in 2015. Mark has not attempted to predict what this might mean.<\/p>\n

Seeing the link with the several end time prophetic versus that speak of the sun going dark and the moon turning to blood, one might question if Yeshua Jesus might be about to return. Although a tetrad of lunar eclipses falling on the Jewish holidays is unusual, we know that including this most recent occurrence, they will have happened a total of 8 times in 21 centuries. Tetrad Blood Moons are fairly common with 62 occurrences during the 21 centuries since the birth of Christ, including this century. The next one after 2014-2015 will be in 2032-2033. It is true that the last three tetrads that occurred on Jewish holidays held significance for the Jews as a people but they are not necessarily proof of Messiah\u2019s return. There are also other conditions that could result in the same effect such as changes in atmospheric conditions.<\/p>\n

A note about moons. The Harvest Moon, by tradition, is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. Its brightness allowed farmers to continue to harvest their crop past sunset. Thus the name Harvest Moon. The full moon following the Harvest Moon is called the Hunter\u2019s Moon. It was by the light of this moon that hunters were able to stalk their prey and stockpile food for the coming winter. It is distinguished in that for several nights in a row, it sits farther north on the horizon providing light for the hunt.<\/p>\n
