Graham had begun his ministry preaching a convincing, heart wrenching message of change and repentance at churches, tent meetings and stadiums filled with the curious, the questioners and the damned. Very few left the way they came in. The man just plain believed and could find the words to get you to do so too. He is a father and grandfather and great grandfather as well. As the great man aged he knew that the ministry had to continue within his family and one of his children would take on the mantle. The one who did was the most unlikely, the certifiable \u201cblack sheep\u201d of the Graham clan, Franklin. The Almighty enjoys seeing our prideful plans fall apart and using the tire with the most wear on it to drive the truck. That was Franklin.<\/p>\n
Being the son of someone whom everyone knows by sight, respects (even grudgingly) and who can act as Prophet when needed to press authority figures on matters of conscience is a heavy load. You are usually not your own man; you are your father\u2019s son. Franklin said \u201cno way\u201d. His years of expulsion from school, bad attitude and other unholy characteristics safely excluded him from taking on the birthright and inescapable public lifestyle of Billy Graham Ministries. But G-d had other plans and soon enough Franklin woke up on the right side of bed one day and kept on going. Samaritan\u2019s Purse was added to the leadership positions for the forceful preacher and today a new Rev. Graham is leading as the Reverend Billy Graham looks on in great satisfaction. The torch is being passed to strong, manly hands and we are all the better for it.<\/p>\n
