by Tom Brennan,
The internet, social media, YouTube and discussion groups are all full of talk of the Last Days. Some polls say that many believe the Messiah will return soon. Many prophecies in Daniel, Zechariah and Revelation seem to be mirrored in the daily news. So, what do we do about it? First of all, to quote the Messiah “Don’t be afraid”. Okay, that sounds good. But what if you are a Christian being threatened with execution in Syria, Iraq or Sudan? What if you’re an Israeli getting ready to head to the shelters when the alarm goes off for Hezbollah and Hamas and their Iranian-bought and paid for rockets? Still, don’t be afraid.
The Scriptures say that the kingdoms of the world will turn on Israel. Even its friends. But God’s covenant is eternal and in the typical way He works, Israel will prevail. His holy city Jerusalem will survive (Damascus won’t). So far all the pundits, news anchors and press secretaries and spokespersons have ignored the one basic fact: the Bible is never wrong. Maybe it doesn’t fit into our Microsoft Outlook calendars, but in God’s time it happens.
It’s easy to be discouraged and yes, a little fearful, when we see leaders totally disregarding God’s law for their own. We see America turning away from God, anti-Semitism on the rise and innocent women and children brutalized by Jihadists. And still these leaders and their lackeys are silent. But God’s voice is the final authority and as believers we are obliged to follow only that voice, no other. And thankfully that voice has never been wrong, has never lied and will prevail.
So “don’t be afraid”. But don’t be silent either. Use your voice and confront the enemies of God’s people and write your government, your newspapers, your church or university and use social media to demonstrate your commitment. Support for Israel is commanded by the prophecy that the covenant is eternal, as brothers and sisters of Israel we cannot let the kings of the North and South, Gog and Magog, Obama and Putin, The Caliphate and the Ayatollahs imagine they are unopposed. We are being tested like soldiers being selected to be an elite force. Like the 300 that Gideon chose to conquer the thousands of Philistines or the Mighty Ones of David, a “few good men (and women) “will be the deciding factor in the last battle. And this is only because their King is a Messiah Who comes back in glory and retribution for His people.
Extreme sports enthusiasts wear T-shirts that say “No Fear”. The same applies to us. Stand with Israel and “No Fear”.
