by Tom Brennan,
We have just survived a number of dire forecasts and predictions; Shemitah, Blood Moons and enough internet chatter and reposts to turn anyone’s hair white with worry. But if you believe in God’s Word and read it as it was transmitted to the narrators in the Scriptures, you will be calm and much wiser.
The Bible is not a book of formulas, mathematical codes that lead to treasure troves, the Ark of the Covenant or the true path of the Exodus. It is guide to living a righteous life and being a part of the Kingdom of God. Numbers in the Bible have deep significance, so do signs from nature. The Hebrews were literate, they could read and write. The absence of written materials is based on the environmental conditions and overall lifestyle. The majority of the population lived in an agricultural lifestyle, possessions were practical, synagogue was where Scripture was studied and read and this was done. Shards have been found which contain letters and phrases which those learning the aleph bet used to practice.
Yeshua used many metaphors of nature and agriculture to teach. Today many children in city schools still don’t know where milk comes from (not cartons, plastic containers or big box stores). The wealthy and leadership missed the point mostly from many of the parables. The power elite lived very comfortably in cities, removed from the soil, plants and animals which the used to enjoy their life of power and influence.
Today we for the most part live in dependency in cities, waiting for someone to push a button, pack an aisle with foods, turn a switch that allows us to bathe with water, watch huge TV’s with a world of mindless entertainment or come up with something new to interest often jaded minds and intellects.
Many of us are rediscovering Sukkot, living outside with God’s creation. Sounds, scents and starry views replace for a while a world we command and fit to our custom specifications. This is why we accept the alarms and formulas for End Times that come at us on the web.
But we need to think of God’s mercy. He desires that all be saved; He sends signs and warnings that we must change. The world is on an edge and too many of the population sit back and watch passively as if this were some high tech game or disaster movie. Yes the signs are there; yes they are mentioned in Scripture. But like any warning they can be heeded or ignored. As believers and supporters of Israel we are charged with action, not passivity. We cannot wait for a Rapture that many dispute, we have the tools to act and we must. Blood Moons, warnings and other signs are call to action. And act we must.
