Yesterday was the internationally celebrated “Good Deeds Day”. More than 550,000 Israelis took part in some 8000 dedicated volunteer projects nationwide to help those in need. When you consider that the total population of Israel is only 7 million, that is a huge percentage of participation! Hundreds of schools and youth groups, 500 businesses and thousands of soldiers and students participated. They were joined by 376 communities including 116 from the Arab sector. President Shimon Peres also took part in the activities, helping to paint a fence on Bethlehem Road. He commented, “People say many things about Israel, but one of the things that they don’t say (but should say) is that Israel has one of the best volunteering records in the world!”
In my last blog I told of the amazing rescue mission of the Iranian arms shipment captured by the Israeli navy on the high seas. The ship arrived in the port of Eilat on the Red Sea on Saturday, and the huge shipment of long range missiles and arms were unloaded from their containers for all the world to see. It was chilling to realize that they were meant to be used against us, the citizens and the people of Israel. Even while they were being unloaded, Kathryn Ashton was busy smiling on her smiley mission to smiley Iran. The world wants to believe that Iran is now a moderate, cooperating friend, and it is sad to see the degree of this delusion.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, standing at the port in Eilat near the rows of Syrian missiles and Iranian mortar shells said that there were those in the world who did not want Israel to show the ordinance confiscated because they were not interested in knowing what was truly happening in Iran but promoting instead “the illusion that Iran has changed directions. But the facts,” the Prime Minister said, “prove the exact opposite.” The Prime Minister blasted the world’s hypocrisy on Monday saying that there is a flood of condemnation of Israel when “it builds a balcony in Jerusalem, but only a drizzle of censure when Iran tries to smuggle long-range missiles into the Gaza Strip endangering the lives of millions of Israelis…”
Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said that the smuggled arms “were another example that the Iranian regime is actually the largest terrorist exporter in the world.” The defense minister said that the rockets on display were meant to be fired on Israeli citizens. “This is the real face of the Iranian regime that is behind the charm and smile offensive. As you can see, we know how to defend ourselves; we will continue to do so, near and far, at sea, in the air, on land and with the help of the Israel Defense Forces…”
This was followed last night by a magnificent light-and-sound production from heaven, with the impressive thunder and lightening display seemingly adding an exuberant “AMEN” to it all. This is, after all, the Holy Land!
(“Thank You, too, Abba, for the much needed latter rain that is accompanying the storm!”)
