In the Bible, the harp is one of the most important instruments, and it was the favorite instrument of David, with over a hundred references to its use.
When David was a young man, he became well known in the royal household when he was called upon by King Saul to play the harp (Hebrew kinnor).

Modern Hebrew uses the word Nevel for harp.
